Weddings at blue: Nicole and Cesar
Our favorite part of every wedding at blue is always the custom touches – what makes your wedding true to you and your partner’s tastes, cultures, and favorite things. For Nicole and Cesar, one custom touch stood out to the couple and guests alike – dancing in custom celebratory masks for a traditional “Hora Loca”! We talked with the newlyweds to learn more about what made their wedding so memorable.
What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?
My favorite part of planning the wedding was how easy it was to work with the staff at blue. The wedding planning process can be overwhelming and stressful but the event planning staff made it very easy. Anytime I would email with a question, I would get a response within 24 hours! The staff was always willing to answer any questions I had no matter how small or silly of a question.
Why did you choose blue as your wedding venue?
I chose blue for the venue space and the food. I had previously attended an event at blue years before and the cuisine was delicious. I also loved the openness of the event space along with the brick wall accents.
What did your guests say they enjoyed most about your wedding?
My guests absolutely loved the food. No guest had a single complaint about the food throughout cocktail hour, the main course and even the late night snacks. Most guests stated they ate everything on their plate since it was so delicious. No food left behind! One guest even stated the vegetarian meal she had was the best vegetarian meal she has ever gotten at a wedding!
What is your favorite memory looking back on your wedding day?
My favorite memory looking back at my wedding was all the people on the dance floor. My husband’s culture has a tradition called “Hora Loca” where the bride and groom have custom masks made and all the guests also have masks. My husband and I entered the room with our masks on surprising the guests the party really started. Everyone then grabbed their masks from under the tables and hit the dance floor. When I looked around everyone was on the dance floor but maybe 10 guests out of the 180 in attendance. It was absolutely amazing to see so many people on the dance floor. It honestly felt like a festival!

“The planning process, the friendliness of the staff, the execution and attention to details, everything was absolutely fantastic,” Nicole said. “My guests continue to talk about the atmosphere and the food months after the wedding! It definitely left a fantastic impression on every guest.”
