Weddings at blue: Melissa and Dan
With a new year upon us, it’s always wonderful to look back on weddings and events of the past year. Reminiscing with Melissa and Dan about their October wedding here at blue takes us back to their personal, intimate ceremony, beautiful customized decor, and a day filled with heartwarming memories. Melissa shared with us some of her favorite moments from their big day:
What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?
We had a few favorites. The first was picking a venue, every place we looked was so unique but it came down to our priorities, what people remember; the food and the booze! We also opted to do a wine ceremony during our wedding. Rather than mixing sand, we mixed red and white wine. Before the wedding, we visited local vineyard, Franklin Hill and mixed and matched red and white wines until we found our favorite combination. Who doesn’t love wine tasting? I also enjoyed all of our DIY projects, from wine barrel refinishing to table numbers and Disney touches, the personalized projects made it feel like our day.
Why did you choose blue as your wedding venue?
From the first time we visited blue, we fell in love. It has always been one of our favorite restaurants in the area so when it came to searching for a wedding venue, this was at the top of our list. From our first inquiry to the very last moment, the staff was incredible, it just felt easy. We loved the modern look of the ballroom and the fact that we could have our ceremony on site. It was just perfect for us and our style.
What did your guests say they enjoyed most about your wedding?
Each of our guests enjoyed a different aspect but the most heard compliment by far was the food. We not only heard this from our guests, but from some of our vendors too. Everyone attending couldn’t believe the quality of food that was served at a wedding. It exceeded our expectations – every single entree was perfect. Our guests even wanted to take home the left overs!
What is your favorite memory looking back on your wedding day?
Looking back, it’s hard to pick a favorite moment. It was just a perfect day, from the weather, to the venue, to the food, to the speeches, to the time spent with family and friends it was incredible. Saying “I do” and exchanging rings with my husband was such a special moment, its hard to top that.
“Everything about our wedding at blue was top notch,” Melissa said. “The food, service, ambiance, the blue team’s expertise – everything. They made everything easy and it was the one part of the wedding that we were the least stressed about. I wish we could do it all over again!”
